Death

Mary Virginia Starnes Flowe, 90 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home after an extended illness, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Mary was born February 14, 1925 in Mecklenburg County to the late Bartley Mellon Starnes and the late Julia Bowles Starnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Furr Flowe; as well as three sisters and four brothers. Her family meant the world to her. She always concerned herself with other's needs more than her own. Her memory will live on with all those who were fortunate to know her. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, Saturday, June 20, 2015, at United Love Baptist Church, 11487 Flowes Store Road, Midland. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Marvin Tyson will follow at 12:00 Noon. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her children Douglas, Jerry, Cindy and Carolyn; sisters Vivian Jones and Julie Scharf both of VA; as well as nine grandsons; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
