Death
Mary Frances Sustar, 84, passed away on April 4, 2014. She was born May 30, 1929 in Mecklenburg County to the late John Adam Plowman and Margaret Tealie Furr Plowman. Frances was a loving wife to Norman Sustar for 62 years. They were high school sweethearts and married on June 13, 1950 at Mt. Harmony Parsonage. Frances was a wonderful mother to two loving sons. She shared a great love for her family, sewing and cooking; Frances was truly a genuine individual. The love, compassion and care she showered on others were a true inspiration. She was a blessing to her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Norman Sustar; and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Sustar. She was also predeceased by her siblings, William "Bill" Plowman, Nathan Lee Plowman, Margaret Lillian Phillips, Cornell Plowman Outen and Hugh Rondel Plowman. She is survived by her sons, Randy Sustar and Tommy Sustar and his wife, Diane; her step grandchildren, Shawn Casey and Terry Poteat; her step great-grandchildren, Dylan Casey, Emilee and Olivia Poteat; as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Matthews, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Dr. Buddy Pigg will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund, 2817 Mt. Harmony Church Road, Matthews, NC 28105.
