Death

Ralph Cedell Flowe, 87, of Concord, went home to Heaven, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Mr. Flowe was born April 27, 1926, in Cabarrus County, to the late Theodore and Mary Barnhardt Flowe. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Johnnie Lee Flowe in 2007; one brother, Robert Flowe; and  one sister, Lena Hathcock. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Friday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, officiated by Rev. Bobby Utley. Burial will follow at the Cabarrus Memorial Gardens at 3892 Hwy 73, Concord, NC with full military honors. He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Mitchell) Furr of Concord and Gail (Steve) Purdy of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Eric Brady, Keith (Tara) Furr, Rusty (Jeanne) Furr; and four great grandchildren. A WWII veteran of the US Army, he was a Tec 4 serving in the 458th Eng Depot. He was retired from Roadway Express Trucking Company. In his later life, he enjoyed his wood working shop, building miniature items. The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Carillon Assisted Living of Harrisburg, where he was resident for the last eight months.
