Death

Ruth Curlee Smith, 85, of New London passed away Saturday Dec. 28, 2013 at CMC Northeast. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday December 31, 2013 at Paul s Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Walter s officiating. Burial will follow in the Paul s Crossing Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday December 30, 2013 at Stanly Funeral Home. Born April 3, 1928 in Stanly County, NC she was the daughter of the late Lonnie D. Curlee and Margie Wilhoit Curlee and was retired from Richfield Manufacturing and she also spent many years as a secretary with Allstar Egg Plant in Albemarle, NC. She was a member of Paul s Crossing Baptist Church since 1937. Ms. Smith enjoyed flowers, making Jack pies and Pecan pies. She enjoyed going to Wendy s with her friends, reading her Bible and teaching Sunday School. She was married to the late Richard Smith who preceded her in death in 1986. One child also proceeds her in death, daughter, Doris Furr and son-in-law Arthur Frick. Survivors include daughters Dianne S. Frick of Richfield and Rita S. Adcock of Kannapolis and one brother Roy Curlee of New London. Eight grandchildren; Julie Cummings and husband John, Jeremy Furr and wife Tonda, Marilyn Thompson and husband Joel, Brandon Frick and wife Stacy, Beverly Harkey and husband Sam, Adam Adcock, Sarah Adcock, Katie Adcock and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
