Death
William Eugene Wright of Fairfax, VA died suddenly on January 20, 2014. Born on August 5, 1933 in Brookhaven, MS, he was the son of Willis Edwin and Will Lena Wright and brother of Edwina Wright Cline. He graduated from Tunica High School in 1951 and Millsaps College in 1954, spent three years in the Army, two years studying in Berlin, Germany on a Fulbright scholarship, and earned a Masters and Ph.D. in political science from Vanderbilt University. He taught at both the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and at the University of Georgia in Athens and finished his career as a researcher at AARP in Washington, DC. Dr. Wright is survived by his wife, Anne McChesney Wright, three children - Alexander of Sterling, VA, Eugenia of Falls Church, VA and Ian of Tokyo, Japan - and six grandchildren. The legacy of his kind spirit, commitment to education, love of reading, and keen interest in travel will live on through them. Private services will take place this summer in Virginia. Dr. Wright was a lifelong avid reader and memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Fairfax County Library Foundation www.fairfaxlibraryfoundation.org.
