WINSTON-SALEM Beufort Rudolph Jones June 29, 1924 - May 20, 2012 Mr. Beufort Rudolph Jones, 87, passed away on May 20, 2012 at The Oaks at Forsyth. He had been a resident of Vienna Village for five years. He lived in Winston-Salem throughout his adult life. Mr. Jones was born June 29, 1924 in Taylorsville, NC. His parents were the late John Franklin Jones and Montee May Jones, and his late step-mother was Dorothy Reese Jones. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the European Theater. He was an early radar specialist with the Army Air Force, and he set up the communications for the Potsdam Conference in Berlin in 1945. There he met the leaders of the Allied nations who participated in the Conference. Beufort worked for over 39 years with Western Electric, Bell Labs and AT&T Technologies. He was a faithful member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church all of his adult life after moving to Forsyth County in 1946, and he served the church in many different capacities through the years. Beufort loved gardening, photography, numismatics, reading and traveling. He was multi-talented and personally built homes for his elderly family members while he was working fulltime. He was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth Hege Shaw (Arthur); and Eliza Hege Boger (Howard). Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Mrs. Pauline Hege Jones of Winston-Salem; a loving daughter, Lana Jones Furr (Richard) of Greensboro; granddaughter, Jena Rhyne (David); and grandson, Brad Dodson (Emily); and three great-granddaughters, Katelyn, Julianna and Lisa Rhyne, all of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Mahathey and Dr. Earl Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Vienna Village for all the loving care and attention to Beufort during the last several years. The family requests memorials to be made to Mt.
