Judith Evelyn Hoard of Mesquite, TX peacefully ended her battle with pancreatic cancer Friday afternoon in her home surrounded by her loving family. She will be sorely missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and spiritual anchor to many. She was truly a blessing to all she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, niece Karen Grieme and her brother Gordy White. She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Jill Furr, son John (Lou) Delaney, grandchildren Kyle and Paige Furr, sister Jan White of Alexandria, MN, brother Doug White of Henderson, NV, son-in-law Mike Furr and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was born in St Cloud, MN to Lawrence and Mildred White. Judy was a 1960 graduate of Tech High School, in 1964 she received a Bachelor's Degree from St Cloud State University and in 1987 she received a Master's Degree from East Texas State University. For 34 years she touched countless lives as a dedicated elementary school teacher. She traveled to all 50 states and every continent. She was a committed member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, excellent cook, gifted gardener and she loved playing games. The family offers our deepest appreciation to Drs. Thomas Shires, David McCollum, their respective staffs and Pastor John Schelter. Visitation will be Wednesday May 2, from 6-8 pm at Anderson Clayton Funeral Home in Mesquite. Funeral services will be Thursday May 3, at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mesquite. Family will be wearing Easter colors to honor Judy's love of Easter as we celebrate her joyous life.Published in Dallas Morning News on May 1, 2012
