Death
SPRINGLAKE-A.L. Conner, 76, of Springlake died Friday, April 27, 2012, at his home in Springlake. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Springlake with Mr. Danny Butler and Mr. Glenn Harlin officiating. Interment will follow in Springlake Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Olton. A.L. was born May 20, 1935, in Cass County, Texas, to Henry Anthony and Bertha Lorena Newsom Conner. He was a lifetime area resident and moved to Springlake in 1952. On Dec. 9, 1954, in Clovis, N.M., he married Topsy Offield. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Olton. A.L. was an avid farmer who genuinely loved working the land and driving the tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joyce Vanneman; and a nephew, Ronnie Lee Wilhelm. Survivors include his wife, Topsy of Springlake; his daughter, Nacola Furr and her husband John of Dimmitt; three sons, Ardis Conner and his wife Teri of Springlake, Jody Conner and his wife Lesa of Springlake, and Gaylon Conner and his wife Rhonda of Springlake; a brother, Robert Conner of Springlake; and two sisters, Gaynell Moree of Springlake and Treva Jo Crocker of Howe, Texas. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Springlake Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 58, Springlake, TX 79082.
