HOLLANDALE - Funeral services for Glenn Edward Crowe, 76, of Hollandale, a farmer and ginner will be at 2 p.m. today at Hollandale Baptist Church. He died Jan. 4, 2008, at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will be in Hollandale Cemetery under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland. He was born in Braggadocio, Mo., to Odie Faires and Myrtle Callis Crowe in 1931, where he was educated in the public school system. After graduation, he attended Arkansas State for one year and then transferred to Mississippi State University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics. His marriage to the former Mary Oates was solemnized while he was at MSU in January 1953. While he was at MSU, he was elected as a member of O.D.K., a leadership fraternity, and selected as a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He also received a commission of second lieutenant in the Army through the R.O.T.C. program. After serving two years in the Army, he moved to Hayti, Mo., where he ran an insurance agency and farmed. In 1963, after eight years in Hayti, he and father and brothers bought farms in Mississippi and moved to Hollandale, Miss., with his wife and two daughters. In Mississippi, he was a prominent farmer and ginner as well as a faithful deacon in the Hollandale Baptist Church, where he taught an Adult Men's Sunday School class for several years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 54 years of Hollandale; two daughters, Sue Crowe Seratt of Greenville and Kim Crowe Furr of Hollandale; two brothers, Denvil Crowe of Tupelo and Donal Crowe of Greenville; three grandchildren, Lamar Furr, Mary Mason Furr and Elizabeth Seratt; two great-grandchildren, Marlee Furr and John David Furr; sons-in-law, Bill Seratt and David Furr; and granddaughter-in-law, Meredith Furr. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the Hollandale Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Village in Clinton, Miss., or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.Published in The Delta Democrat Times, January 6, 2008
