Death
Edward B. Carmichael Mr. Carmichael, 86, of Charlotte, died on January 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Cleveland County, NC on January 29, 1926, son of the late Hubert Corwin Carmichael and Mullie Alexander Carmichael. Mr. Carmichael grew up in Charlotte and attended Queens College for two years. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during World War II. He loved gardening and sharing his plants and vegetables with everyone. Mr. Carmichael also loved helping out his neighbors by bringing the mail and newspapers to his neighbors that could no longer get out on their own to get them. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carmichael is preceded in death by his brothers, Mike Carmichael, William Carmichael and Jim Carmichael; and his sister Jane Davis. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Furr Carmichael; daughter, Martha James and her husband, Gaylord A. James II; granddaughters, Catherine Annette Potter, Heather Nichole Bliss, and Katie Marie Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Trinity Nichole Bliss, Hailey Nichole Potter, Leah Michelle Bliss, Braydon Gage Bliss, Dakota Ray Potter, and Austin Wayne Potter. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC with Reverend Ron E. Nelson, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 31, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
