Death

DODGE CITY -- Bettye Jo Bartlett, 85, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Minneola District Hospital in Minneola. She was born on January 7, 1926, at Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Ray and Pearl Ethel (Furr) Dick. On March 27, 1948, she married Gailand Bartlett. He survives. Bettye Jo spent her life as a caring farm wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City. In addition to her husband, Gailand, Bettye Jo is survived by two sons, Dr. Randy Bartlett and wife, Linda, of Russell and Kent Bartlett and wife, Ruth, of Fowler; two daughters, Lisa Plante and husband, Larry, of Russell and Tammi Dinges and husband, Randy, of Littleton, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kerry Neil Bartlett. Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Tom Walters presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2011, from noon to 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriners’ Burn Hospital in care of the funeral home.
