Death

Jerre Roper Jones Garnett, 78, of Wilmington, NC passed away on June 18, 2017. Mrs. Garnett was born in Gastonia, NC, October 2, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Glenn H. and Helen Craig Roper. Mrs. Garnett received her education from North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga and UNC-Charlotte for BSN and MSN. She was a certified clinical nurse specialist in psychiatric/mental health. Mrs. Garnett's career included Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gaston College, Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC and was a lecturer at UNCW in psychiatric/mental health nursing. Mrs. Garnett was a member of NCNA, ANA, Sigma Theta TAU and Figure Eight Island Yacht Club. Jerre was predeceased by her late husband, J.R. (Bill) Garnett. Service and Celebration of Jerre's life will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews On-the-Sound Episcopal Church, 101 Airlie Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403. The family will receive guests in the Parish Hall, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the UNC-W School of Nursing, 601 S. College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403, or to the charity of one's choice.
