Jenifer Ryland Garnett, "Bill", 75, of Wilmington, NC, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011. He was born on January 25, 1936, in Washington, DC, the son of the late Dr. Christopher Browne Garnett, Jr. and the late Margaret Pfannschmidt Garnett. Mr. Garnett was a graduate of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He retired from IBM as a branch manager. Bill was a member of the Rotary Club of Raleigh, NC, a Communicant of St. Andrews On-the-Sound Episcopal Church, a former Educational Foundation Board Member for NC State University, where he was a past president, and was a charter member of Figure Eight Island Yacht Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with children, grandchildren and his great-grandchild. Surviving is his wife, Jerre Roper Garnett of the home; two daughters, Cheri Furr and husband Neal of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Bernardin and husband Andy of Columbia, SC; three sons, Chris Garnett and wife Kelly of Cary, NC, Jim Jones, Jr. and wife Susan of Pittsboro, NC, and Robert Jones and wife Christie of Stafford, VA; grandchildren, Amanda Furr Jordan and husband Jon of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth and Christopher Bernardin of Columbia, SC, Christian, Anya and Lilia Garnett of Cary, NC, Chase and Gunnar Jones of Stafford, VA; one great grandchild, Jackson Jordan of Charlotte, NC., nephews Jack & Marc Steinberg, niece Susan Steinberg. A private family service will be held at a later date in The Garnett Family Plot in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA. Donations in Bill's memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to the charity of one's choice .
