Jackie Rufus Phillips NORWOOD -- Mr. Phillips, 71, of 217 Berry Hill Drive, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle. Funeral service is 2:00 PM Monday at Norwood First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Autry and Rev. Eddie Black officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Norview Gardens, Norwood. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM tonight at Edwards Funeral Home of Norwood. Mr. Phillips was born January 23, 1934 om Davidson County, NC, a son of the late Joe and Pauline James Haffley. He was owner and operator of the Western Auto Store in Norwood. Mr. Phillips was a member of Norwood First United Methodist Church and Pee Dee Lodge #150 AF & AM. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Biles Phillips of the home; daughters, Bonnie Phillips Timberlake of Concord, Kathy Phillips Furr of Albemarle, Sheila Phillips Talbert of Norwood and Angela S. Phillips of Norwood; brother, Larry Phillips of Greensboro, NC; sister, Brenda Phillips May of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 948, Norwood, NC 28128. Edwards Funeral Home of Norwood is in charge.
