Death
FURR, Elisabeth B. (Brown) daughter of William Hugh and Callie Rousseau Brown, passed away on October 23, 2012, in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Boynton Beach, FL, 1934. She graduated from Seacrest High School; many remember her as the drum majorette of the band. She graduated from Brenau College for Women (now Brenau University) in Gainesville, GA, and began a career as a county extension agent in Florida?s Marion, Pasco, and Manatee counties. She enjoyed working with 4-H students, judging many county and state fair competitions, hosting a local radio show and other professional connections in communities across the state. In 1958 she married William (Bill) David Furr of Ocala, FL, and began a new adventure focused on her family life with Bill and their daughters, Ellen and Jill. Later, the family relocated to the Chicago area, back to the South in Atlanta, and finally near Indianapolis. Elisabeth was a loving, gracious, and generous woman. Her hospitality, kindness and gentleness, as well as her beauty and style, were hallmarks throughout her life. She was an avid reader, often reading a book in an evening. Her cooking was unparalleled, carrying on a family tradition especially from the hero of her life, grandmother, Elizabeth Brown Plunkett "Grammie". She enjoyed researching genealogy and treasured sharing uncovered information and stories with her dear cousins. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, the Seminole Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society, and the English Speaking Union of Indianapolis.Elisabeth was preceded in death by her parents, William Hugh and Callie Rousseau Brown and husband, Bill Furr. She is survived by daughters, Ellen Davida (Art) and Jill Birch (Gary); brother, Bill (Bud) Brown (Jackie); sister, Ellen B. Curtin (Brian); granddaughters, Jessica Andrea (Bob), Heather Schwarz, and Katie Birch, and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Caitlyn Andrea.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, 5939 Castle Creek Parkway, North Drive, Indianapolis, IN, 46250.
