Death
Lonnie Fletcher Huneycutt, Jr., 77, of Stanfield, NC, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 in W.G. Bill Hefner Medical Center, Salisbury, NC. His memorial service will be 4 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Big Lick Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakboro Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Mr. Huneycutt was born March 18, 1946 in Stanly County to the late Lonnie Fletcher Huneycutt, Sr. and Eunice Furr Huneycutt. He retired from Phillip Morris of Concord, NC. Lonnie was a member of Big Lick Baptist Church, and a devoted Christian serving the Lord. He was a Sunday School teacher and choir member. Mr. Huneycutt loved being with his family. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Safrit Huneycutt of the home. He is also survived by three sons, Mike Huneycutt and Chris Huneycutt (Michelle), all of Stanfield, NC, and Lonnie F. Huneycutt, III (Brandi) of Austin, TX; a sister, Joyce Higham (Donald) of Oakboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Zane Huneycutt, Laura Castles (Ben), Andrew "Drew" Huneycutt, Reed Huneycutt, Saydee Huneycutt, Anna Marie Huneycutt and Mark Munson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Kenneth F. Huneycutt (Helen), and sister, Elaine Huneycutt Freeman (Tim), and a grandson, Tucker Lee Huneycutt.
