Death
Dorothy Louise Furr age 93 passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Friday, May 06, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating, burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Furr was born on Sunday, February 24, 1918 in Holly Springs, MS to the late Herman and Minnie Lea Williams Crowder. She was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union and a Sunday School Teacher for juniors. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sew and So Club and a charter member of the Cherokee Garden Club. She was an excellent cook, gifted seamstress, and had a great love for antiques, enjoying buying and selling them during her lifetime. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Herman Crowder Jr. Survivors include: Her adoring husband of 72 years James W. "Billy" Furr Columbus MS, One Daughter: Jill Furr, Chattanooga, TN, Two Sons: Bill Furr, Columbus, MS Don Furr, Atlanta, GA, Three Grandchildren: Michelle Furr, Madison, WI Scott Furr (Angie), Atlanta, GA Susannah Ferguson (Matthew), Chattanooga, TNIn lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: The Salvation Army P.O.
