Death

The citizens of Ackerman and Choctaw were shocked and grieved on last Friday morning when they learned that Judge Henry H. Rodgers, prominent citizen and lawyer, of Louisville, had been instantly killed in an automobile wreck about nine miles west of Kosciusko on the Durant road. Judge Rodgers and Mr. J. D. McGraw were returning from Memphis on business and were at the foot of a long hill when the car turned over. Judge Rodgers was dead and Mr. McGraw badly injured when some negroes and Rev. S. H. McBride came along and extricated them from beneath the car. Mr. McGraw was rushed to Kosciusko where he was given medical attention and is reported to be improving, Judge Rodgers served four years as Circuit Judge of the Fifth District and made a fine official, all admitting that he made one of the best that the district has ever had. He was widely known over the state and not only a good lawyer but a splendid citizen. Personally, Judge Rodgers was a clever, genial fellow; always in a good humor and scattered sunshine along the walks of men. The funeral took place at Louisville Sunday.
