Roy Bennette BASS

CONCORD — Roy Bennette Bass, 88, 43 Plott Drive, died Sunday (Oct. 17, 199) at NorthEast Medical Center after two months of illness.

Born March 26, 1911, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Bass was a son of the late Marshall and Dothie Furr Bass. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, he retired in 1975 from Cannon Mills card room after 45 years. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, he served in England during World War II. He was a member of Young Memorial Baptist Church and Improved Order of Redmen.

Survivors include wife Lenna Hinson Bass; son Roy D. Bass, Kannapolis; brother Alred Bass, Charlotte; sister Josephine Walters, Orlando,Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday,Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. A.G. Ferris and the Rev. Jeff Smith. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Visitation: 1:30-3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
