Death
HICKORY - Peggy Snuggs Furr, 79, of Hickory, went to be with the Lord Oct. 11, 2010, at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born March 14, 1931, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Bonnie Snuggs. Mrs. Furr was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church. She began her work career as a dental assistant in Albemarle. After moving to Hickory, she began a 30-year career in the Hickory Public Schools system as a cafeteria worker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always thought of others before herself. She fought a brave battle against Parkinson's disease, never complaining about her condition. She is survived by her husband, Ted Furr of the home; daughter, Nikki Kozak and husband, David, of Hickory; granddaughter, Lindsay Kozak, also of Hickory; brothers, Edwin Snuggs and wife, Ethel, of Durham, Thomas Snuggs and Leon Snuggs, both of Charlotte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Snuggs. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Catawba Funerals & Cremations, with Pastor John Woodard officiating. Inurnment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.
