Death
Paula (Polly) Furr Smith, 66, of Georgetown, TX, died suddenly on April 20, 2023 at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church at 4410 Duval Road in Austin, TX at 11:00 am on Friday, April 28th, 2023 followed by a reception at the church. Polly is survived by: Her son, Cody Smith, his wife, Leslie, and grandson Grover; Her daughter, Annie Moore and husband Derrick. She has one brother, Ray Furr, two sisters, Judy Freeman and Connie Kifer. Polly was born October 30, 1956 in Nacogdoches, TX to Herbert and Millie Furr but spent most of her childhood in Wisner, La. She graduated from Wisner High School, and earned a BA from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, La. She was Research Analyst for the Williamson County Precinct 2 Constable's Office for 17 years before retiring on March 30, 2023. She held a part-time job in merchandising for the Texas Stars. Polly was a prolific crafts person, and an avid fan of the Texas Stars hockey team, her alma mater and all things LSU. She was actively involved in multiple charities including the Brown Santa Project for the needy and other Texas Stars foundation charities.
