Notes
Death
Mrs. A. W. H. Price died at her home in Goose Creek township last Wednesday, October 30th, after a period of suffering that extended over twenty-five years, and which was marked by a character of exquisite christian fortitude and loveliness. All these years Mrs. Price was the victim of rheumatism and for most of them she was unable to walk and for many years unable to use her body in any way, finally being unable to raise hand to mouth to convey her own food. But through it all none ever heard her utter a word of complaint, or to indulge in any frame of mind other than the most cheerful possible. Before her hand became helpless she made her own burying clothes. And at her request Rev. A. C. Davis preached her funeral from the text "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth them out of them all." Mrs. Price was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. George Little and was 70 years old the 6th of last February. She was twice married, the first time to Mr. Noah Chaney, the last time to Mr. A. W. H. Price, who survives her. Her living children are Mr. N. A. Chaney, Messrs. T. L. and J. R. Price, and Mrs. M. E. Furr. The remains were buried at Hopewell. Mrs. Price was a member of the Baptist church and religion meat something to her. It was the joy of her life and the source of her happiness. Her physical sufferings were something almost inconceivable. One hip joint was drawn out of place and the fingers became draw out of their place and fell helpless on the palm. She bore it all with a bravery that was the admiration of the neighbors and her acquaintances far and wide. The Monroe Journal, Monroe, North Carolina, November 5, 1912
