CONCORD Ariel Woodward Furr Aug. 26, 1926 - Jan. 5, 2014 Ariel Woodward Furr of Asheboro, formally of Concord, NC died Sunday January 5, 2014 at Randolph Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R. Ben Durand and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Born August 26, 1926 in Salisbury, NC, Ariel was the daughter of the late Adam and Ruby Tuck Woodward of Kannapolis, NC. Ariel graduated from J. W. Cannon High School and previously worked for The Life Insurance Company of Virginia as well as The Concord Merchants Association. In 1969 Credit Women International honored Ariel as "Woman of the Year". She was active in her church Kerr Street Baptist Church as a leader for Girl's Auxiliary, choir member and church soloist. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her husband Everett E. "Sam" Furr, daughters Denise F. Durand and husband Bob of Asheboro and Deborah F. Harrell and husband Ed of Winston Salem. Sisters Dorthea Overcash of Kannapolis, Claudia Daves of Concord and Esther Ingram of China Grove. Grandchildren Brian J. Harrell, Erin H. Robertson, R. Ben Durand and Elizabeth D. Strider along with 12 Great Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County 416 Vision Drive Asheboro, NC 27203.
