Individual Details
Willard Parson FURR Jr.
(25 Jul 1933 - 3 Jan 1980)
Willard Furr, 41, of Vicksburg was held in the Warren County Jail Wednesday following his arrest on murder charges in the beating death of his mother, authorities said. Sheriff Paul Barrett said Furr was arrested Tuesday after the funeral of his mother, Mrs. Veta Furr, 60, at Brookhaven. Constable Will Breland was summoned to Mrs. Furr's trailer home last Thursday night after a disturbance and found her on ithe floor, Barrett said. He said Furr told Breland that his mother would be all right and Breland left. The next morning Barrett was advised she had died. An autopsy blamed the death on a ‘‘homicidal beating,” but no motive was reported. Furr's home had been flooded by high water and he had been staying with his mother.
