Death
Richard Lisenby, age 81, died peacefully on October 16 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Rick was born to Carl William and Ollie Furr Lisenby on March 13, 1941, in Concord, NC and attended the Cabarrus County Public School System. He joined the United States Navy on April 22, 1958. During his 20-year career he traveled the world, including spending three years in Kenitra, Morocco 1965-1968. He also served on the USS Sturdy, USS Gearing, and the USS Spiegel Grove and retired on May 16, 1977. After retiring from the Navy, he moved back to his hometown in NC and worked for the City of Concord for 20 years. He was known as a quiet and thoughtful man who loved his family, deer hunting, and with his son built a family vacation home near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Judy Lisenby; his sister, Carolyn Wishon; his children, Tony Folsom (Cathy), Jennifer Cowick (Wesley), and Stephanie Boschee; grandchildren, Raymond Ciafardini (Robyn), Christopher Ciafardini (Allison), Tony Folsom (Morgan), Kiersten DuBose (Ryan), Logan Cowick, Nicole Brown (Sara), and CJ Greene; 5 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Special thank you to his niece, Donna, for all of her caregiving. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl William Lisenby; mother, Ollie Furr Lisenby; and son-in-law, Steven Boschee. No services will be held per Mr. Lisenby’s wishes. Family will receive visitors at the home Noon - 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent help of Hospice Care.
