Death

Michael "Bubba" Nelson left behind the sorrows of this world to join Jesus at the side of our Father Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Bubba was born August 21, 1983 in Andrews County, TX. He lived a simple life of 25 years in Midland,TEXAS battling Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy since the age of 3. Bubba was a member of West Kentucky Baptist Church. He graduated from Midland High School in May, 2002 where he was active in art, woodshop and bowling. He loved his antique car parts, gardening and beloved animals. Bubba leaves behind his mother, Jan Nelson, 6 sisters: Mary Ann Brashear and husband Kenneth Hoggett of Trinity, TX, Holly Schneider and husband Mikeul, Paula Howell, Kellie Nandin and husband Armando, Tammy Harris and husband Mike, Brenda Furr and husband Bobby, 3 nephews: Terry York, Matthew Holocomb, Aaron Howell, 6 nieces: Cassie York, Ashley Nelson, Mindi Harris, Dalilah Nandin, Michelle Harris and Brooklynn Rose Furr, all of Midland. Bubba was preceded in death by his "Daddy," Jerry Gunter, 2 brothers and grandparents. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Ellis Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life memorial at West Kentucky Baptist Church at 6 p.m. with Reverend Bob Porterfield officiating. The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Bubba's doctors; John Foster, Jr. and P. K. Patel, the staff of Homecare Connections and everyone affiliated with the Class Program. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
