Death

Dale Von Yow, 54, of 333 Triplett Road, Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence. He was born on July 11, 1954, in Potter County, Texas, and was the son of Ray Von Yow and the late Betty Sue Hilton Yow, who died Sept. 13, 1998. Dale was a graduate of South Rowan High School and completed 2 years of Business College in Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977, and was of the Baptist faith. He was disability retired as a welder engineer and also had worked for Southern States. Dale was a simple man, who loved automobile models and dragsters. In addition to his father, of Statesville, Dale is survived by a brother, Kenneth Ray Yow of Harmony; two sisters, Martha Y. Furr of Davidson, and Jennifer Y. Sides of Mooresville; two nieces; a nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Monday at Nicholson Funeral Home, prior to the service. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Dale Von Yow.
