Death

Ray Von Yow, 79, passed away unexpectedly at Davis Regional Medical Center on Friday, May 21, 2010. Mr. Yow was an avid golfer and a good-hearted person to all who knew him. He loved going to the beach and fishing. Mr. Yow was born in Rowan County on Nov. 24, 1930, to the late A.B. and Dora Mae Huffman Yow. He was a decorated U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran and a member of the Statesville V.F.W. Mr. Yow was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Hilton Yow, and by a son, Dale Von Yow. Mr. Yow is survived by three children, Martha Furr and husband, Edd, of Davidson, Kenneth Yow and wife, Kimberly, of Harmony and Jennifer Yow Sides, of Mooresville. He is also survived by a brother, Glenn Yow, of Concord. Also surviving are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services for Ray Von Yow will be held at noon Tuesday Nicholson Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow at Oakwood cemetery with military honors. Nicholson Funeral is serving the family of Mr. Ray Von Yow.
