CONCORD — Ruth McLester Horton Furr, 72, 604 Faith Drive, died Saturday (Feb. 20, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center. Born Jan. 6, 1927, in Stanly County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of the late Daniel Franklin and Addie Mae Burris McLester. A nurse assistant, she had retired from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, now NorthEast Medical Center. She was a member of Vine Life Baptist Church, Albemarle. Her first husband, James Henry Horton, and a step-daughter, Gina Honeycutt, preceded her in death. Survivors include husband Ernest Furr, Concord; son Gary Wayne Horton, Harrisburg; stepson Allen Furr, Albemarle; stepdaughters Elizabeth Swicegood, Banner Elk, Margaret Miller, Salisbury, and Hazel Lowder, Albemarle; two grandsons; 10 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, conducted by the Rev. Gary Hunsucker. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Concord. Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Faith Drive.
