Death
STANFIELD - Charlie James Talley, 89, of 4588 Love Mill Road, Stanfield, died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at home. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with a 30 minute state, at the First Baptist Church of Locust, where he was a member. Dr. Kinney Wallace will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. Born April 21, 1920, he was the son of the late Paul Wilson and Jennie Furr Talley. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was a retired 2nd shift overseer at Oakboro Cotton Mill, Tuscarora Yarns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee Talley; daughter Sandra Talley Barbee; and two grandsons, Steven and Chris Barbee. He is survived by a son, Tommy Talley and wife, Cynthia; son in law Dwight Barbee; granddaughters, Tara Tarlton and husband, Steven, and Tiffany Talley and husband, Billy Mishak; four great-grandchildren, Damian and Dominic Talley, and Anna and Ethan Tarlton, all of Stanfield. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The family will be meeting at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland is serving the family.
