Death

James Clinton Thomas, 70, of Aquadale, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.  James was born on January 11, 1950 to the late Clinton Albert Thomas and Hazel Liles Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his wife Penny Furr Thomas, aunt Jessie McGhee, and uncle Lawrence Thomas. James retired from Chicago Tube and Iron after many years of service. He worked all his life, but when he was not working, he enjoyed many things such as, classic cars, fishing, the beach and being with his big family. Despite his home being located in Aquadale, NC a big part of his heart lies at his beach house in Holden Beach,NC. For many years James enjoyed volunteering with the Christian Cooking Convoy where they held benefits to help local families in need. He also traveled to car shows throughout many different states. One of his most prized possessions was his 1963 Chevy Impala, which the family plans to honor him with his last ride. The family will receive friends from 1pm -2pm Monday, November 9, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2pm at the church, officiated by Rev. Bobby Tallent. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery at 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Rd., Marshville. He is Survived by his fiance Winnie Lowe, Three sons, Darrell Thomas (Jessica), Scotty Thomas(Trina) and Brandon Thomas(Crystal). Four daughters, Jessica Thomas, Cristy Thomas (Bubba). Cindy Thomas, Julie Oates. Two soon-to-be stepdaughters, Kendra Moore(Josh) and Katryna Sloat(Sean). Twenty- three grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. Sisters; Cynthia Austin(Royce) and Joyce Austin(Boyce) and Amanda Thomas Evans. Numerous special nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for all their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Family will be gathering at the home of Brandon and Crystal Thomas to celebrate James' life over the next couple days, all are welcomed. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Thomas family.
