1661...a Wm. RUSKE, Northumberland County records, made guardian of Jane MEDCALFE, orphan child of William MEDCALFE, dec., Wm. RUSKE being described as having married the sister of said Jane...PRETTY MUCH INDICATES THAT ANN WAS INDEED A MEDCALFE.

William MEDCALFE, father of Ann, lived at CHERRY POINT NECK, formed by the confluence of the YEOCOMICO RIVER with the POTOMAC, which is in Westmoreland county. The property which William and Ann conveyed in 1661 was on BROAD CREEK, which empties into the YEOCOMICO about 2 miles from the Potomac, thus but about 3 -4 miles distant from the plantation of William MEDCALFE, Ann RUST received no land by her father's will, an indication that she was a young widow, when, as it appears, she married William RUST. She may have been the widow of John LANDMAN, who died about 1660 when a very young man.
