Death
James Franklin Suggs, 88 of High Point, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital. He was the loving husband of Bobbie M. (Loflin) Suggs to whom he was married to for 51 years. Mr. Suggs was born on March 19, 1924 in Davidson County a son of the late William B. and Mary Martha (Swarengen) Suggs. He was a former employee of the High Point City School District for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country from 1942 to 1945. Mr. Suggs was an avid Duke basketball fan and an Atlanta Braves fan. He also enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach with his family in his younger years and always spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by those who love him. In addition to his wife, Mr. Suggs is survived by a daughter, Vicki Thornton and husband, John of Lexington; two grandsons, Jeffrey Aaron Gibbs of the home, and Mike Suggs of F.L.; a brother, Benny Suggs and wife, Helen of N.J.; a sister, Lou Blakee of Archdale; and brother-in-law, Joe Rowe of High Point. He was predeceased by a son, Travis Butch Suggs, a grandson, Elliot Suggs, and two brothers, Cedric and Rufus. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Floral Garden Memorial Park with Rev. Mel Anderson officiating.Endnotes
