Two Eden residents nabbed for illegal sales By VERNON SIKES Managing Editor
Two Eden residents were among 33 Arkansas and Mississippi subjects arrested in a wildlife sting operation Thursday morning. Paul E. Furr Jr., 27, and Mitchell W. Furr, 25, both of 94 Eden Main St., Eden, were charged with two counts each of selling white tail deer meat, which is a violation of the Mississippi Code. During their appearance Friday in Yazoo County Justice Court, Judge Pam May reduced bonds on each from $10,000 to $1,000. “We’d been trying to catch them for a good while on a number of charges,” said Sammy Fisher of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Fisher said if the two are found guilty, they can be fined from $2,000 to $5,000 and will lose the hunting license for one year. The two also could be sentenced to up to five days in jail. Their trial has been set for July 25 in justice court. Fisher said Paul Furr was arrested shortly after 6 a.m. without incident at his home. Mitchell Furr was arrested as short time after 6 a.m. as he returned home after taking his girlfriend home. Also participating in the arrests were officers Rusty Odum and Scotty Jones of the MDWFP.
