Death

CONCORD - Hazel Virginia Crayton Furr, 85, of 3430 Eva Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. at CMC-NorthEast. Visitation will be at the Hartsell Funeral home Chapel in Concord, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Services will follow at Hartsell beginning at 3 p.m.. with burial taking place at Oakwood Cemetary, Concord. The family will meet at the home of Mrs. Furr. Mrs. Furr was born April 4, 1923 in Stanly County. She was a cafeteria worker for Northwest Cabarrus School and was retired from Cabarrus Hospital. Mrs. Furr is survived by son, Vance Lee Furr, Jr., and wife Mary D. of Mt. Holly; daughter, Rebecca Furr of Kannapolis; daughter, Nancy F. Stalvey, and her husband Frank of Gastonia; brother, Lawson L. Crayton, Jr., of Concord; and grandchildren, Jody Lee Patterson, Sr., Penny P. Davis, Pamela J. Edwards, Wendy Jo Patterson, and Jamie Smith. She also has 11 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Vance Lee Furr Sr., deceased since 1990; father, Lawson L. Crayton Sr.; great-grandson, Jonathan Patterson; sister, Geraldine Hartsell; sister, Martha A. Smith; sister, Ruby Hagler; sister, Frances Smith; and brother, Clay Van Crayton. Pallbearers will be Jason Coleman, Jack Davis, Justin Davis, Dominick, Zachary Edwards, Jody Lee Patterson Jr., and Joey Whitaker. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the family.
