Death
ALBEMARLE — Mrs Carolyn Hatley Furr, 47, of Rt. 4 died Wednesday night at her home after a lengthy illness. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Canton Baptist Church with the Rev Kenneth Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at the Hartsell Ruineral Home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. Born on June 2, 1930, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of Sallie Smith Hatley of Oakboro and the late Thomas Hatley. A housewife, she was a member of Canton Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Ernest Theodore Furr, a son, Allen Ernest Furr of Oakboro, four daughters. Mrs Elizabeth Swicegood of Salisbury, Mrs Margaret Miller of Charlotte, Mrs Hazel Lowder of Albemarle and Miss Gina Furr of the home, six grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Marvin and Vernon Hatley, both of Oakboro, Ernest Hatley of Locust and Jack Hatley of Windale, and three sisters, Mrs Lester Hill and Miss Florence Hatley, both of Oakboro, and Mrs Gilbert Huneycutt of Albemarle.Salisbury Evening Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, November 2, 1977
