Dennis Wayne Furr, age 21, formerly of Hopewell, Va., was killed yesterday at 4 P.M. at Galipolis. He was with the Civil Air Patrol. He was attending United Electronics Institute in Charleston, W.Va. He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ira Furr, 409 S. 17th Ave., Hopewell; one sister, Mrs. Doris E. Gilliland of Colonial Heights; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Annie R. Hudson of Hopewell. He graduated from Hopewell High School in 1970. He is a member of the Pentcostal Holiness Church, Hopewell. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Gould Funeral Home, Hopewell, later. Gallipolis, Ohio (UPI) -- Dennis Wayne Furr, 21, Hopewell, Va., died Saturday when his parachute failed to open properly during a jump near this Ohio River community.

GALLIPOLIS. Ohio (AP) Wayne Furr, 21, of Hopewell, Va., was killed Saturday in his first sport parachute jump. Gallia County deputies said Furr dropped 2,800 feet when his parachute failed to open. He did not use his reserve chute, officials said.
