Notes
Death
FURR - Junius C. Furr was born in Woodson, Lafayette county, Miss., near Oxford, March 25, 1842, and died at his home in Memphis, Tenn., March 81, 1898. He was converted April, 1853, and joined the Presbyterian Church in Toccopola, Miss. On his removal to Memphis he connected himself with the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist Church, July, 1884, of which he was a member until his death. Soon after joining he was elected a trustee, a steward, and made the treasurer of the Board, and also of the Sunday school, in which positions he was most faithful and prompt. He loved his Master, his church, his cause, and found his greatest pleasure in His service. He was a constant attendant upon preaching, Sunday school, and Epworth League. He loved his Bible. He was loved by everyone. He was an affectionate husband, a kind father, a good neighbor, and a consistent Christian. Two years ago he professed sanctification, and ever afterward exemplified the doctrine of perfect love. He volunteered in ’61, and followed Gen. R. E. Lee until his surrender at Appomattox. He was married to Miss R. Dunn, Aug. 17, 1865, by which union he had a son and daughter, who survive him. She died May 6 1882. On March 26 1885, he was married to Miss Florence L. Tucker, with whom he lived happily until death. He died trusting in his Savior. May God comfort and bless the sorrowing wife and children!Christian Advocate, New Orleans, Louisiana, May 5, 1898
