Death
MT. PLEASANT - Mrs. Mildred Maxine "Granny" Furr Lowder, 70, passed away at CMC-NorthEast on Nov. 5, 2008. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mitchell Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.. Granny was born in Cabarrus County (Roberta Mill Area) on Aug. 5, 1938, to Homer Clyde and Viola Smith Furr. She retired from Shogren Hosiery. Granny loved her family and found fulfillment in doing for other people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horrace E. Lowder, in 1996. Mrs. Lowder is survived by her daughter, Maxine Johnson and her husband, James, of Mount Pleasant; son, Andy Lowder and wife, Susan, of Mount Pleasant; adopted daughters, Breeze Brenda Furr of Harrisburg and Margaret F. Thompsom and husband, Marvin, of Concord; sister, Peggy Helms of China Grove; brother, Jimmy Furr of Stanfield; seven grandchildren, A.J., Ben, and Sara Johnson, Heather Lowder Brooks, Michael Gray, Linda Thomas and Michelle Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua Gray, Donnie Wheeler, and Destiny and Sydney Thomas.
