Death

Mary Elizabeth Furr Long, 72, of Albemarle passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in her home. Her funeral service will be 11 AM Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Mabry and Rev. Gary Hunsucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM. Mary was born February 16, 1942 in Stanly County, to the late Oscar Furr and Sarah Faye Huneycutt Furr. She was retired from the NC Dept. of Public Safety and she attended Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hoyle Braxton Long, son Darrell Braxton Long and wife Kim of Oakboro, daughter Tana Long Huneycutt and husband Dywayne of Albemarle, five grandchildren: Whitney Long Roach and husband Zach, Casey Eden Huneycutt, Travis William Huneycutt, Daniel Tyler Huneycutt and Braxton Blaine Long, and one great-grandchild, two sisters Margaret Ann Luther of Albemarle, and Brenda Sue Bolick of Salisbury and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mary s many friends and relatives who visited with her during her illness. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
