Death

Michael Stanley Furr, 64, of Pinebluff, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018. Michael was a native of Moore County. He was born on June 10, 1954, to William Reid Furr and Shirley Irene Ammons Furr. Michael attended Pinecrest High School and later pursued a career in trucking. Michael was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aberdeen. He enjoyed restoring automobiles, fishing, gardening, riding his Harley and had a love for animals. A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Oct 21, at 3 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aberdeen, with the Rev. Horace Warwick officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Martha DeBerry Furr; his children, Jamie Furr of Rockingham, and Denise Furr Cotten (Del), of Charlotte; mother, Shirley Irene Furr, of Pinebluff; sister, Teresa Ring (Lester), of Cameron; brother, Jeffrey Furr, of Pinebluff; grandchildren, Nicole Furr, Matthew Furr, Mackenzie Cotten, Brinlee Cotten, Payton Cotten and Olivia Cotten. Michael was also loved and adored by a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Reid Furr; and brothers, William Lee Furr and Carl Wayne Furr.
