Death
Otis P. "Pete" Furr, 74, of Penny Court, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Conway Medical Center following an illness. Mr. Furr was born in Belmont, N.C., a son of the late Hoyle Samuel and Bessie Thomas Furr. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Furr was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Ocean Lakes Family Campground. Mr. Furr was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Furr; two brothers, Ray Furr and Roy Furr; and one half brother, James H. Parker. Surviving are his wife, Mary "Pat" Furr of Conway; two sons, Mark W. Furr of Charlotte, N.C. and Rodney Furr and his wife, Renee' of Mt. Holly, N.C.; four grandchildren, Stephania Smith, Rachael Stepp, Tiffany Furr, and Jeremy Furr; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Coy T. Furr of Panama City, Fla. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 from St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy M. Lijewski officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be sent to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund, 1071 Academy Drive, Conway, SC 29526.
