Death

Brenda Gayle Furr Jones, age 82, of Sanford, NC, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at UNC Hospitals with her family by her side. She was born in Lee County, NC on September 23, 1941 to the late Robert Paul Furr and Mildred Kathleen Sawyer Furr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Jones. Brenda was a member of East Sanford Baptist Church. She sang in the choir years ago and always put others before herself. She was a great cook and excellent baker including cornbread, chocolate pies and cakes. Brenda worked many years, as the office manager, for Dr. Kuhn’s, Dr. Whitehead’s and Dr. Hink’s Dental Practices. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband Oscar Gene Jones; children Karen Kelly and partner Audrey Kilpatrick of Winterville, NC, Terrie Wilkins and husband Jimmy of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Ron Kelly and wife Ursula of Farmville, NC, Edward Jones and wife Robin of Wake Forest, NC; siblings Larry Furr and wife Beverly of West End, Kay Johnson and husband Graham of Sanford, Susan Cox and Ashley Harrington of Sanford; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her fur-baby Lucy. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at East Sanford Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private burial of her cremains will be held at a later date in Fuquay-Varina. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations, in her memory, to any animal rescue or shelter in your area
