Death

Services were held March 23 at the Madison Baptist Church for Lester Randy Furr Jr. of 448 Pineridge Dr., Madison. Dr. James Richardson and Dr. Ken Stringer officiated. Furr, 32, died March 21 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. A native of Wesson, he was a graduate of Wesson High School, Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and the University of Mississippi. He also was a 1982 graduate of the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. He was a vice president of First National Bank and was former branch manager of Woodland Hills First National Bank. He was a member of the Wesson Baptist Church. His survivors include his wife, Wanda Martin Furr of Madison; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Furr Sr. of Wesson; and a brother, Richard K. Furr of Wesson. Active pallbearers were Keith Munson, Thomas H. Smith, Newton Blount, Jim Robbins, Bob Gaston, Karey Mullins, Ed Benoist, Bryant Turner and Lannie Allen. Honorary pallbearers were officers and employees of First National Bank. Burial was in the Wesson Cemetery. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lester R. “Randy” Furr Jr. Memorial Band Scholarship was established in Randy’s memory by his family and friends. His mother is the former Katie Kennedy of Magee. His parents live in Wesson and at the time of his death he was vice-president of First National Bank in Jackson.
