Death

Jeraldene (Jones) Furr, 94, a resident of Wimberley, TX, for over 40 years, passed away in Kyle, TX on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Jeraldene was born on February 3, 1930, to O. C. and Lottie May (Haines) Jones in Mason, TX. She graduated from London High School in London, TX in 1947 as the Valedictorian. After graduation she went on to work with the Sherriff's department in Menard County Texas before being wed to Kennon Stroud Furr on January 20, 1951, in Junction, TX. Jeraldene and her family resided for many years in Austin where she raised her two children through high school and The University of Texas while continuing to paint beautiful hill country scenes, flowers and seascapes before moving to Wimberley for retirement. Jeraldene is survived by her younger brother, Oran Columbus (OC) Jones, of Umpire, AR, her son, Lory Furr, and his wife, Ruby, of Kyle, TX; daughter, Susan Whitton, and her husband, Anson, of Ruidoso, NM; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as many other extended family members. Jeraldene was interred at the Wimberley Cemetery alongside her husband, Kennon, of 59 years.
