Death

ALBEMARLE — Spec 4 Troy Keith Furr 20, of Route 4, stationed with the US Army Infantry in Egypt, died April 30, 1990, in Sinai Egypt, as the result of a drowning accident. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Stanly Funeral Home Memorial Chapel conducted by the Rev. George Bradshaw and the Rev. Sherman “Chuck” Branch. Burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday night from 7 to 8. Born July 2, 1969, in El Paso Texas, Furr was a son of Ted McCormick of El Paso and Anne Sawyer Hopkins of Albemarle and the adopted son of Arnold Furr of Kannapolis. Attending Northwest Cabarrus High School for three years, he was a graduate of Andress High School in El Paso. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska. Survivors, in addition to his parents and his adoptive father, include a brother, Kevin Furr of El Paso, two sisters, Terri Pressley of Albemarle and Tonja Zebrosky of Concord, and his stepfather Tommy Hopkins of Albemarle.
