Death

Winona LaVonn (Bostick) Furr, age 82 of Childress, passed away on January 12, 2016.  Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Shoffner and Pastor Freddie Stice, officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Winona was born on April 18, 1933 in Childress, Texas to Robert and Winnie (Deel) Bostick. She graduated form Paducah High School.  She married J A Furr on August 12, 1950 in Childress, and they spent 65 loving years together until he passed away in 2015. In 1962, Winona began working for the Childress County Clerk's office, eventually becoming the District County Clerk, and remained there until her retirement in 1984.  Winona was a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.  Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or to CRMC Hospice.  Survivors include two sons, Gary Furr and wife, Joan, and Rick Furr and wife,Terri; one brother, Jerry Bostick and wife, Joy; five grandchildren: Emily Millheim and husband, Phil, Jennifer Cox and husband, Jack, Ricky Furr and fiance, Jennifer Cooper, Jeff Furr and wife, Diana, and Stephen Furr; eleven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Longbine and wife, Hannah, Justin Seymour, Jacob Millheim, Anthony Elliott and wife, Krista, Ashley Smith and husband, Andrew, April Gordon and husband, Nicholas, Jacqueline Cox, Josh Cox, Andres Furr, Aric Furr and Austyn Furr; eight great-great-grandchildren, Lathem, Paxon, Ava, Hudson, Cooper, Wyatt, Kennedy and Finley; and numerous extended family and friends.
