Attala County (MS) native Earl Pettit, 83, of West Monroe, LA, died May 21 at the hospital there. He was a member of First Baptist Church in West Monroe, chairman of the board of deacons and named elder emeritus. He was retire from Postal Service after 35 years. Services were held May 23 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Gardens in West Monroe, LA. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Glyde Tyner Pettit of West Monroe, LA; a daughter, Mrs. Bonny Herndon of Waco, TX; a stepson, Sonny Tyner of New Orleans, LA; two grandchildren, Paul and Jane Herndon; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Pettit of Jackson, TN; three brothers, Lynn Pettit and Bennie Pettit, both of Kosciusko, MS, and James Pettit of Ridgeland, MS. His first wife, Mrs. Vera Furr Pettit, proceeded in death 16 years ago.Endnotes
