Death
Ira R. Furr, 67, passed away in his home in Holyoke on June 8, 2014. Ira was born on February 22, 1947 to the late Ira and Ruby (Rabon) Furr in Concord, North Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school and proudly served his country. Ira ended his time in the military at Westover Air Base and began working at Sonoco Products Company, where he enjoyed working and interacting with customers and co-workers for 42 years. He married the love of his life, Gloria (Gladu) Furr on November 21, 1969, and devoted his life to being a loving husband and father. Ira was a member and deacon at the First Lutheran Church in Holyoke, and his dynamic baritone voice will be missed by everyone. Ira lived a life of grace and love and spread his positive energy to everyone he met. Ira is survived by his loving wife Gloria; two sons, Neil Bonneville Jr. of TN and Brian Bonneville of DE; three daughters, Cherryl Calkins of West Springfield, Diane Bonneville of Southampton, and Charlotte Beaudry of Holyoke; one brother, Robert Furr and his wife Gwen of NC; one sister, Iris Hill and her husband Frankie of NC; nine grandchildren; Karissa Domina, Nikos Calkins, Michael Prawlucki, James Beaudry Jr., Samantha Domina, Marcos Calkins, Monika Prawlucki, Victoria Beaudry, and Gabrielle Beaudry; and several nieces and nephews. Services for Ira will be Friday, June 13 at 10am in First Lutheran Church, 1810 Northampton St, Holyoke. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 12 from 4-7pm in Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. A private burial will be at a later date at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
