Death

Funeral service for James Ray Furr of Cleburne will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Monday, February 18, 2019 in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the funeral home. James Ray Furr was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 14, 1935. He died peacefully on February 14, 2019, surrounded by his children at the age of 84. James went to Paschal High School in Fort Worth and attended Southwestern Junior College in Keene, Texas. He married Eileen Turk in 1953 and they had four children. James married Naomi Ledbetter in 1990 and they lived in Joshua, Texas until his passing. They enjoyed RV camping and traveled to many places throughout the United States. They both loved their many pets. James was a master craftsman in woodworking. His specialty was building furniture – especially high-end executive conference tables. His hobbies included fishing, camping, and dancing. In his later years he enjoyed writing poetry, including the two poems in the funeral program. James is survived by his wife Naomi Jean Furr; his four children: LaMon (Deana) Furr; Joyce (Ron) Hollenbeck; Michael (Peggy) Furr; Laurence (Matthew) Furr; and his step-son, James Causey. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Laurence Furr; James (Jessica) Furr; Katrina (John) McCauley; Lori (Mike) Serle; and Michelle Furr; and also his two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Serle and James Myles Furr. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Shoemaker and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude Paul Furr and Lila Lorene Walker.
